Significant Cases

Opposed the Affordable Care Act
California v. Texas, Supreme Court
(Affordable Care Act)
Texas and the AGs of several states sued the federal government to overturn the Affordable Care Act, which would end healthcare coverage for as many as 25 million people and remove protections for people with preexisting conditions. California and other AGs intervened in the lawsuit to defend the law.
Opposed abortion access
June Medical Services v. Russo, Supreme Court
(Abortion Restrictions)
The plaintiffs challenged a Louisiana state law which would have effectively outlawed abortions in the state by requiring doctors performing abortions to have admitting privileges at a state-authorized hospital within 30 miles of the abortion clinic. The Supreme Court ruled that the state law was unconstitutional.

The Leadership Center for Attorney General Studies (LCAGS) strives to provide important information about each attorney general and their actions. The information provided by LCAGS is not a comprehensive view of each attorney general. Readers should not judge the qualifications of an attorney general based on a few selected actions but should consider the totality of an attorney general's service to their constituents.
